Podcasting is a form of entertainment where some publisher releases episodes of their program out on the internet for the world to enjoy. Though many podcasts are usually audio only, some also bring in visual effects. Podcasts could even simply be a recording of something that happened on Television and is now available for download online for anyone to access and later listen/view at their own leisure. Every episode that comes out for that podcast are quite often in the same audio or video format so that the people downloading them can do so consistently.
As for the podcasts themselves, they range for many topics. Some topics don’t require the use of video so much as they do audio and those podcasts are the ones that suffer the most if they aren’t using a good microphone for podcasting. A good example of mostly audio only type of podcast would have to be those that deal with playing the fantasy role-playing game known as Dungeons & Dragons. In that game, a “Dungeon Master” will fully describe the scenes of what their players can see, what they hear and what they feel which the players then base judgements off of. Using this feedback, the Dungeon Master will say what happens next and an epic adventure is formed through the collective imagination of those people sitting at the table.
We get to listen in on these adventures and hear these amazing tales of conquests over podcasts. Some are free to listen to while others might require a fee. The best thing about these podcasts though is that anyone interested can start one up on any topic of interest they might have. We live in a world of smartphones where everyone has access to a decent microphone for podcasting, so it’s really accessible.
