Going Green: Taking The Initiative

If you have been watching the news for the past few months, chances are, you’ve come across a lot of upsetting news regarding the environment throughout the world. The Great Barrier Reef was declared “dead,” there were floods in different parts around the world ranging with death tolls going upto 100s and destroying millions worth of property and land. Los Angeles experienced a bunch of large-scale forest fires as well, and as I am typing this, a volcano is Bali is currently at risk of erupting.

So, it’s safe to say, that the environment has been far from stable and ideal, and no matter how we put it, it is our fault. We used up fossil fuels and non-renewable fuels, pillaged the land and, continued to increase our carbon footprint each decade. It is upsetting news, but we need to own upto it. While our governments still continue to argue or struggle with imposing laws at a national or international level, we can still, as inhabitants of this planet, try to take some initiative. It takes a few dedicated individuals to start a movement, so the time to start is now.

There are a lot of ways you can help out, you just need to be smart, read up and make more informed decisions. You can find out which brands and companies have green initiatives and support them in favor of those who take no such initiative or responsibility. If you can’t afford a hybrid car, you can limit the number of times you use your car, there are other alternative methods like cycling, and using an electric bike, in fact you can find some of the best e-bikes online and in-stores as well. Recycle, find alternatives to plastic bags. You want to make sure that you leave a planet that your future generations can survive in, and even thrive.
